Where to stay in Thailand

The world’s been hearing a lot about Thailand lately**-not so pretty things to be exact, so it’s easy to forget  just how amazingly beautiful a place Thailand really is.

But even the experience of the world’s most beautiful destinations can be spoilt when you book yourself into the wrong accommodation. So let me tell you where you should stay if you are visiting Bangkok. This is my absolute favourite hotel and my first choice for my stays there.

If you’re going to Bangkok, you must give Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel a try. Yes I know it’s an odd name, but it’s a fantastic hotel and you won’t be disappointed. It is part of the Mecure Group and if I am not wrong the city’s newest (opened towards the end of 2007) upscale hotel.

The rooms are amazingly spacious and beautiful, with luxuriously (the whole set of luxury bedding and they change it daily) comfortable beds, a relaxing bath that makes you want to stay in there forever and much more .

The service is personal (a guest officer will walk you to your room) friendly and professional. The staff is quick and efficient to answer to all your needs and everyone speaks English.

The buildng itself is a piece of modern art- spacious and free flowing. If you’ve been to Bangkok you’ll know how space is an issue.

It’s a less than 5 minutes walk away from the sky train station and if you’re not up for walking, then the hotel has a free shuttle service to take you to and fro from the station. Just opposite (there’s an internal link from the hotel building) is the King Power Duty Free Complex…so to me that meant easy access to chocolates! Yummy! But it’s a duty free complex so you know what else you can get there.

But honestly, the one thing that made me vote it as the best hotel was its setting and location. In bangkok it’s not surprising to find amazingly beautiful buildings located right in between rows of shophouses. You can find yourself staying at the most beautiful 5 star hotel but as you walk out and simply just look out your window, you find yourself at a dusty street of old shop houses-I don’t know but for me, that just spoils the setting.

But that doesn’t happen with Pullman. At the Pullman Power you will see and walkout into a clean pristine area because Pullman had bought up such a huge piece of land it is able to landscape it to greet it’s guests.

Most hotels in Bangkok are just buildings without any surrounding land space. Pullman gives you luxury both inside and out of the hotel because unlike the rest, it actually has an outside.

Another issue is safety. Pullman doesn’t just look safe because it keeps it’s land and building to itself, it is safe because there are both physical and technological security measures in place to ensure it. Honestly when I go to Bangkok, I shop till the stores close and by the time I get back to my room it’s almost past midnight so security is everything. Of course don’t worry because it doesn’t mean that the Pullman is like an army camp, no security is done sublty and tastefully.

If you want to have a great stay in Bangkok, stay at the Pullman King Power Hotel. You will love it whether it’s for business of leisure. It’s also a great place to host business events!

I can vouch for it that the photos you see on their website is exactly what the place looks like. No clever angling of the camera. It really looks as it does in the pictures.

**Some travelers despite having been physically present in Thailand during the Oct 7th incident weren’t even aware of it and insist that it is safe. EAF says please put your safety first and check for political stability before entering the country. It is also worth to note that Thailand really is an amazing country so don’t write it off your books, else you’re going to miss out on one of the world’s most amazing treasures.

PS: Yes I have my own personal photos taken of the place, but if you don't ask,
you don't get to see them.
