The Erotic Park my travel agent forgot to mention

Submitted by Raziel on Tuesday, 21 October 20082 Comments

Those who read yesterday about traveling to beautiful Korea would know that my travel agent left something out about magical Jeju-do. It’s a really famous place for obvious reasons but she didn’t sell it to me.

Welcome to Jeju Love Land – A sex themed park that was build on the foresight of 20 graduates of Seoul’s Hongik University. In 2002, these 20 pioneers began sculpting the sexual oriented and erotic arts pieces that dress up Love Land today. Presently housing 140 pieces of unique artwork, the park opened in 2004 and has been blossoming every since.

Now I haven’t been there because like I said, my travel agent didn’t tell me about it and besides flowers seem more appealing to me than statues of giant sexual organs, but that’s just me and this could appeal to you. So I want you travellers out there to know about it so that you can visit it when you’re in Korea.

(View it as art, but it's NSFW so pictures of Love Land are behind

Note of reminder, this is a travel post)

Anyways, I learned about lovely Love Land all on my own. And if you go to their official website, you’ll find that they ‘recommend’ you provide 40 minutes of your time during the day and 50 minutes of your time during the night to view all exhibits. Now I assume that means there’s some artworks that ‘come alive’ at night, so you can’t appreciate the full action in daylight, but that would mean that you’d have to spend your entire day there at the park wouldn’t it? Especially since there’s an entrance fee of W7,000 involved with each visit.

As with any good and responsible authority, Jeju Love Land respects that it’s ‘contents’ might not be suitable for all ages, so there’s the 18 and above only age limit for entry. So what do you do if you have ‘fledglings’? How about you can dump/leave/place them at the recreational/play area are for minors? What if somebody kidnaps them? Well I’m sure they must have some minder there, sort of like a daycare. What if your fledgling is 16 -17 years old and isn’t interested in swings? Well then you’ll just have to check if the recreational area has other gadgets to babysit older fledglings now won’t you? Else maybe you’ll just have to work something else out, but always remember to put your kids and their safety first (Yes, we are the EAF promote responsible travel fun, not just plain fun).

Jokes aside, a friend who visited told me that Love Land actually allows the underaged to enter to free as long as they are accompanied and supervised by adults. The official site says otherwise but if you could take your children with you – do you really want your 4 year old asking you, ” Dad, what’s the giant hand digging into? Why’s it digging?”

So enough said, now lets look at some colourful pictures which some will find amusing and others disturbing:
