Bali bombers to face firing squad
I’m sorry to have to add such morose news to East Asia Fair, especially since the last few have been so colourful and picture filled, but I think some of us would want to hear about this one, especially those who suffered a loss through it.
Remember back in October 2002, when the infamous Bali bombing of two Bali nightclubs happened and killed 202 people (most of them were Australians and Indonesians)? Well final judgment has finally been passed on the 3 bombers who remain without an ounce of remorse for their actions.
Already found guilty and put on death row much earlier, a judicial review on the execution method* (firing squad) was filed by the laywers of Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra. But today (Oct 21), the Indonesian Constitutional Court has refused the judicial review pushing the three to face firing squad soon. The Indonesian Attorney General will announce the date of the execution on October 24.

Indonesian Attorney General will announce the date of the execution on Oct. 24, following the pressure from those victims of the bombings that cruelly claimed the lives of 202 innocent people.
Of course, they as seasoned terrorists they can’t leave you/the world without one last terror, Amrozi warns of new attacks targeted at western tourists holidaying to Bali. In an interview with CNN earlier last week he said:
“I’m sure that my colleagues will bomb it again, don’t come back”
Do you think he’s just being a terrorist and giving the world one last terror or is he really doing us a favour by fore-warning us? Either way, I’m sure these 3 bombers will not go gently or quietly into their deaths…
* The argument was that the method of execution used would be ‘inhuman and could be categorized as a torture’ – After what they did, I’m not sure if anyone has enough space left in their hearts to divulge any form of pity for them so I think this argument failed before it even hit the table.
