China’s banks made $35.8 billion dollars in the first 6 months of this year says the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC).

In 2003, non-performing loans were about 17.9%. That’s one in six persons did not repay their loan. Good grief!

In the first half of this year, non-performing loans are down to 8.98% or about one in 12.

Consequently – the big proft. Four years ago, the banks made about 12% of what they are making now.

Interesting…people pay back their loans and the bank makes money.

Assets of Chinese banks are up over $7 trillion.

Whoa, that’s a lot of money. That’s a ‘T’!

Of the world’s top 1000 banks, 31 of them are in China.

So, what’s a bank need all that money for?

And, why can’t they lend money at a lower interest rate?

The T-shirt -Â “I like being on top.”

The 40-year old woman didn’t know about the connotation until a professor from her tourism group persuaded her to change it because the words were embarrassing.

He told her the message meant “she wanted sex.”

Uh…prof…sorry…that’s not what it means. It’s more like a preference in a

The woman, ashamed figured the shirt’s meaning had something to do with people smiling weirdly and whistling at her.

Nike says the t-shirt is sold globally but noone esle has complained.

Nike also said they would refund the woman the price of the t-shirt.

Well…I like being on top…and it has nothing to do with sex.

Why do you think Nike uses slogans that can be construed in such a way on their t-shirts?

The search engines must map out a procedute on how to:

1. dispose of illegal information

2. manage content

3. deal with users’ complaints

Illegal and unhealthy information must be removed from their search results….though a clear definition was not given.

One of the 93 million Wangs said that pornography was just one target.

Pornographic novels were also attacked…including the Bible?

“The search engines know what they should do,” said Wang.

Out of 700 million women in China available and within driving distance of the silk road,

The top ten blog service providers (BSP) in China have signed a pact to urge bloggers to -

3. uphold their “social responsibilities.”

4. encourage identification verification during registration

The pact was created in cooperation with government-backed Internet Society of China.

The measures are designed to combat:

1. bloggers who attack others

2. bloggers who violate copyrights

3. bloggers who infringe on people’s privacy

4. bloggers who spread pornography

5. bloggers who spread illegal content

The pact is not legally binding and the greatest punishment to the BSPs is to be blacklisted by the news media.

Bloggers can booted off by the BSPs.

Some 70% of China’s 137 million Internet users either read, write or do both with blogs.

Blogs are the fastest growing web service.

Do you keep a blog?

China’s sex industry was virtually non-existent around 25 years ago.

However, now it is now booming all around the country.

Most sex workers are migrants, part of the estimated 120 to 300 million people who had left China’s countryside in search of better-paying jobs in one of the big cities.

Prostitution is often hidden in hair salons, massage parlors and karaoke bars.

A friend of mind took me to for a ‘relaxing massage’ once after a long hard week of work. Sure enough, there was more offered than just a massage.

Many people question if China’s government should someday legalize prostitution.

Why -

1. At the current rate of growth the problem could easily spiral out of control.

2. Legalization of prostitution can help government regulate the industry.

3. The measure would also bring other benefits in the protection of women and fight against HIV/AIDS.

4. Legalizing prostitution would also prevent underground prostitution.

There’s hope that the Chinese government, with its pragmatic point of view, will eventually legalize prostitution.

This measure will also bring some negative impact on society.

What do you think the government should do?

The Chinese, I think, don’t particularly care what the rest of the world thinks about the death sentence – good, bad or indifferent.

People are put to death and soon. None of that twenty years of appeals nonsense.

A former senior city official was sentenced to death for killing his mistress with a car bomb.

He, apparently, tired of her demands for money, silenced her. Now,

he will be silenced.

Chinese official speak for an affair – “irregular sexual relations.”

Chinese official speak for death sentence – “death sentence.”

The mistress got a house, jobs for relatives and asked for more money.

The city official tested two bombs before having his mechanic do the deed to her car with success. The mechanic will repairing cars in prison for life. But, that beats tuning up the lethal injection van, no?

The city official was also found guilty of bribery and losing funds.

Death sentence justified?

The Standing Committee of the Shanghai’s People’s Congress will take action on the Shanghai Supplement to the Women’s Protection Law.

If approved it will become the fist law in China’s history to define clearly what sexual harassment is.

1. Telling sexist jokes

2. Emailing porn to colleagues

3. Sending sex related text messages will be outlawed.

There is no idea how much sexual harassment goes on in the Chinese businessworld, because until so few women would speak out. There were no laws to protect them and they were embarrassed.

Sounds like the U.S. not long ago, eh?

Last year, Shanghai Xuhui District People’s Court ruled against a woman in the first ever suit for sexual harassment. The women had accused her doctor of checking out too much.

This can be a giant step for women in China who have, despite the pretense of being equal with males, endured the dumber sex’s actions.

But, Chinese women should not consider this a complete victory, but rather a starting ground.

What do you think?

One day a beautiful Chinese woman walks in.

He immediately walks over and asks her out on a date to which she agrees.

They go out for a while, and soon, the man proposes to her to which again she agrees.

However….”Yes, but before we do, there’s something you must know,” she says. “I have never had sex before, but I’ve read about it.”

The restaurant owner says that it’s no problem, and they get married.

On their honeymoon, the man tells his wife that since she’s a virgin, she can choose what they do first.

She says “Oh, my most honorable husband. I am honored to be your wife, even though I have never had the sex, I have read about it. So, I have chosen to have 69.”

The husband looks confused, and after thinking about it, he says “You want.. the beef and broccoli?”

What is your favorite? A restaurant order that is?

All is well, right?

Well, maybe…

Condi Rice has reservations, questions?

1. How can China continue to create 25 million new jobs every year?

2. How will the already overcrowded cities accomodate folks moving from the countryside in droves?

3. How will China prevent accelerated degradation of its environment?

4. How long will it take for China to

wean itself from carbon-based energy and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions?

5. How can the world’s factory maintain quality and safety of goods?

Chinese leaders know they need to not only have answers to these questions, they need to be workable solutions and they need to be implementing them now.

And if they don’t, Professor Rice will be calling on them. Or will it be President Rice?
