Watching Your Friend Die

Submitted by Bill Belew on Monday, 6 October 2008No Comment

I certainly do not have the resolve to endure watching my friends die.

If it were in my power, I would erase the Taliban from the face of the earth.

Get out the big bombs, the big guns. It’s all over but the shouting and the finger pointing.

The Taliban has killed one of the South Korean hostages.

These are young people with hearts of gold on a mission to do good will and make the world a smaller place.

Still, they were kidnapped and held over a fire, skorean.hostages.jpgat in front of guns, and told to sit and wait until they were killed one-by-one unless their demands were met.

They are 23 Korean church workers, 18 women and five men.

Eight were freed, one is dead and 14 are waiting for

the 1:00 am deadline before their lives are taken.

What the Taliban doesn’t know is that these Christian workers will not be sad when their lives are taken. Christians are happy when they wake up in heaven earlier than they planned to be there. Their families will miss them.  And there is no need or hurry for them to die young.

The Taliban can’t win this one unless the negotiators give in.

If it were up to me, there would be no more Taliban.

I guess it’s good that I am not in charge.
