If you would like to have a sneak peak at the way Tokyo trades its fish, you had better hurry up! The highly popular Tsukiji fish market is a top tourist attraction, but will deny entry to any tourist starting December 15th. (watch a video of a huge tuna being prepared at the market)

Some 200 to 300 fish traders come together at the Tsukiji market early morning, trying to get a good deal and a (part of) their living. And judged by their complaint, tourists get in the way of the trade and are a nuisance during auctions.

Thus the metropolitan government has decided to ban all tourists – foreign and Japanese alike – for at least one month.

It is a shame that this bit of traditional culture will no longer be accessible to the public. Although I’m not sure I would survive the view of dead fish accompanied by their natural aroma in the early morning. ;)
