The pen that can think for you

If you take notes while listening to lectures, or in business meetings, or basically anywhere at all, there is something new for you on the Asian markets: the Pulse Smartpen.

Being recently released in Australia, and now available in the rest of Asia, this pen is not just a pen. It is a pen that is a recording device, that is an infra-red camera, that is a computer, that helps you thinking… Lost me?

According to the introduction video, tap this pen on a part of your notes and it will replay its recording of whatever was said at the time you wrote that. And after you upload your notes to your computer, handwriting recognition makes sure it is as easy to navigate around as digital text.

For the price of RM660 (USD180), it could be a perfect Christmas gift for gadget lovers. But somehow it makes me wonder… Why would you purchase a pen that can think and act like a computer, when you could also, I don’t know, use a computer?
