Wanfujing Street in Beijing

Submitted by Bill Belew on Saturday, 15 May 2010No Comment

What I find really neat about big Chinese cities is that invariably they have one main street that goes down some prominent part of the city. The street is closed off to traffic, except for pedestrian kind, which, of course, when you are in China can be a lot.

Still, it’s cool, it’s fun, it’s outside. It’s like an open air mall only better. It’s uniquely Chinese as far as I know.

Once…while walking the street in downtown Shanghai, I forget the name, a young fellow asked me repeatedly, “Do you want Shanghai girl?” When I finally, made it clear I wasn’t interested (I am not sure what i was thinking), he asked me “How about Shanghai boy?”
