Submitted by Bill Belew on Sunday, 5 October 2008No Comment

Michelle Kwan is the 26-year-old daughter of Chinese immigrants from Hong Kong.

Secretary of State Condolezza Rice tapped Kwan to become a non-salary diplomat for U.S. public diplomacy.

Kwan is the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history with nine national championships and five world titles.

She will serve under Karen Hughes, the undersecretary of state for public diplomacy.Michelle Kwan.jpg

Her mission is to represent American values, especially to young people and sports enthusiasts.

Kwan is a picture of what makes America great. America is not the greatest at everything. But, in America, people can do great things.

The potential that America offers to everyone who comes, in business, in the business of entertainment or the business of sport, is unbeatable.

Michell Kwan is an example of that.

“As an athlete, I have always been proud to represent the U.S.” Now, she gets to serve the U.S.

Congratulations Michelle Kwan!
