Crackdown on Scary Children’s Book Launched

Submitted by Bill Belew on Wednesday, 28 April 2010One Comment

How many parents allow their kids, junior highers and younger to sit and watch scary movies with them?

Are the kids really up for it?

These 11 junior highers in Japan weren’t.

China doesn’t think it’s a good idea either.

With Childrens’ Day, June 1st, just around the corner, China has ordered authorities to seize “illegal terrifying publications” from vendors, including Japan’s popular “Death Note.”ghost.story.jpg

“Death Note” is about a notebook that can kill people whose names are written in it.

The National Anti-piracy and Anti-pornography Working Committee says magazines and books like ‘Death Note’ “mislead innocent children and distort their mind and spirit.”

Does China know something we in the west don’t?

When is it okay for children to be engaged in scary stories?
