China Sees 9.76% Annual Growth for Past 28 Years

The National Development and Reform Commission says that China’s GDP has grown on average 9.67% for the past 28 years compared to the world economy annual growth average of 3.3%.

Per capita income has also grown from 343 yuan in 1978 to 11,759 yuan in 2006.

Farmers saw their incomes grow from 134 yuan to 3,587 yuan annually over the same time period.

Beijing’s coffers grew from 113.23 billion yuan annually to 3.93 trillion yuan.

At the end of 2006 China had 590,000 foreign-invested firms.

Is China growing?

The real question is how much longer it can sustain this kind of growth?
