4 Steps to Correct Gender ImBalance

Submitted by Bill Belew on Sunday, 22 August 20103 Comments

China has more men than women, more boys than girls.

Since the early 1980s, 37 million more men have been born than women.

Among those 37 million, there are 18 million MORE male teenagers than there are female teenie boppers.

There were 108.5 boys to every 100 girls in 1982.

In 2000 the ratio was 116.9 to 100.

Then 2005 – 118.9 to 100.

The international ratio iis 104-107 ment to 100 women.sex.imbalance.jpg

Five provinces -  Jiangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, Anhui and Henan

have ratios as high as 130:100.

The problem stems from:

1. traditional beliefs that boys are better than girls

2. an imperfect social security system

3. the abuse of ultrasound technology

To try and curb the imbalance Beijing has

taken a series of measures including:

1. bans of selective abortion

2. fetus sex detection

3. projects to care for girls

4. promoting gender equality

They might add to their measures, NOT letting boneheaded foreigners like us take their girls as wives, too.
