You drive a Lamborghini, but you can’t get the girls…

Imagine that you live in one of the wealthiest countries of the planet. Your salary is way above average, your national economy is booming, you have a luxurious apartment in the hippest place in town.

Now imagine you’re married, but you’re not the loyal type. You want to take your Lamborghini for a drive with someone else than your significant other… Only problem is: that could get you into jail.

Which country am I talking about?

South Korea. Surprisingly enough, despite having reached “developed” status and being the fourth largest economy in Asia (and even 14th on the world ranking), cheating is still punishable by law. About 50 years ago, the law was implemented to give women some rights in a male-dominated society. Times have changed, but the law is still there and could sentence an unfaithful husband or wife to up to 2 years in jail… Several appeals have been made to overturn the law, the latest in a high-profile case of a famous actress, but so far to no avail.

Would it stop you from cheating?

I don’t need the legal system to tell me that infidelity is wrong. No I wouldn’t need a law to keep me straight but I’m sure it would deter a lot of people from doing it since they would not like the embarrassament or the jail time.
