HIV/AIDS Cases Rise in Beijing

In the first half of this year the Beijing municipal government registered 563 new HIV/AIDS cases, up 50% from last year.

1.  11 foreigners

2.  120 Beijingers

3.  432 migrant workers

Men outnumbered women and most cases were young and middle-aged people.

The two main causes of transmission – needle sharing and sex.

China had 18,453 new cases of HIV carriers reported in the first half of this year.

There were 4,314 cases of AIDS.

The total number accumulated cases of the disease is 214,300.

Education is considered lacking in Beijing…..so…gay college students in Beijing are being offered 50 yuan cash bonuses and free medical treatment in exchange for voluntary counseling and testing (VCT).

Some 100 homosexual university students have already registered.

It is estimated that China has 650,000 people living with HIV and 10 million homosexuals.

Would you be willing to come out for VCT?
