Beijing to Keep Closer Eye on Students

Submitted by Bill Belew on Wednesday, 24 September 2008No Comment

The Health and Education authorities of Beijing plan to monitor the risk behavior of students in the 10-24 year old age bracket.

They will be looking for young people who are at risk for

1. being violent

2. having unprotected sexbeijing students iinternet use

3. becoming internet addicted

4. becoming drug addicted

The monitoring activity is part of a five-year plan to improve disease prevention on campuses and the overall physical and mental health of students.

Some things that the authorities would like to prevent are:

1. overdrinking

2. smoking

3. drug use

4. computer game obsession

5. internet obsession

6. sexual activity resulting in unwanted pregnancy

7. spread of venereal disease

8. student gatherings and protests….

That last one is not on the list. But it might be.

Somehow, when reading of monitoring student activities one can’t help but wonder if there is something else the authorities would ALSO like to know about.

What do you think?
