Asia is not Kansas, Dorothy.

Whenever Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz realized again that OZ was different than thing back home she would mutter, “Gosh, Toto, I keep forgetting that we are not in Kansas anymore.”

The rules in Asia are not the same as they are in the West; the values are not the same. Gosh, duh, they do things differenly on the other side of the world.

In Indonesia, the head of one district proposed virginity tests for

all high school students after it was learned that a porn video showing the act was circulated via cell phones.

Public outcry forced him to abandon his plan but not give up on the idea. He is trying to think of another way to learn who’s been naughty and nice.

Meanwhile, not far away in Malaysia, a villager who took a second wife was ordered by a court to compensate his first wife – one buffalo and a pig.

The man says he converted from Christianity to Islam so he wanted to marry a Muslim girl.

Yeah, but what about getting divorced first?  Huh?!

See, what it costs you? A buffalo and a pig.

That will make him think twice before marrying a third time.

And in Japan…company presidents are drugging subordinates half their age in order to have their way with them… Wait, that probably happens here in the US, too.

Yup…Asia indeed is not Kansas.
