Ang Lee Thriller Doesn’t Suffer from Censorship

Ang Lee has a new erotic spy thriller – “Lust, Caution.”

The Malaysian version of the Oscar-winning Taiwanese director’s film is 14 minutes shorter than the 157-minute version.

Something about Malaysians having smaller bladders maybe?

Nope… censored!

Some 14 minutes of violent and sexual scenes were censored out.

Still, more than 30,000 people have watched the film on 16 Malaysian screens in

More... seven days…”respectable for this genre”….”happy with the response” sayslust.caution.jpg Malaysia’s general manager for Buena Vista Columbia TriStar.

“Lust, Caution” was filmed partly in Malaysia – it is based on a short story about a group of patriotic students who plot to assassinate the intel chief in the Japanese-backed Chinese government during the second World War.

So, um, where would a sex scene fit in a flick like this?

Do you think that films always need sex, violence to carry their stories along?
