Bacha Bazi in Afghanistan – When Islamics Are Not

Submitted by Bill Belew on Saturday, 1 May 2010One Comment

Bacha bazi can be found in Afghanistan.

It’s when the otherwise strict Islamics think -

“We know it is immoral and unIslamic, but how can we quit? We do not like women, we just want boys.”

Yeah, Christians and followers of other religions can go off the deep end, too.

I do think homosexuality is unchristian.

In northern Afghanistan its a mark of prestige to have your own ‘boy toy.’bacha.bazi.jpg

The bacha bereesh, boys without beards compete to be:

1. the best,

2. the most handsome (pretty?) and

3. good-looking.

The boys are:

1. dressed like girls,

2. given artificial breasts and

3. caused to dance like girls.

Hmmm…make them look like girls, feel like girls and move about like girls…and they are not interested in real girls?

Something is wrong with this picture.

If caught, the Islamic clerics want them stoned.

Sounds reasonable to me.

What do you think?

I think that you should not compare bacha bazi with homosexuality. They are 2 very different things. Bacha bazi is practiced with minor boys and you should relate it to pederasty, sexual exploitation and slavery. When the boys are over 18, they are then considered not attractive no more. I respect your beliefs when you say you believe homosexuality is unchristian. However, you should be fair and honest in what you write and compare apples with apples.
