Runaway teenagers are selling sex. They do that to survive….in Korea, too. At a Korean Youth Shelter, 14% of girls as well as some of the boys had sold themselves for sex more than once. Family problems drove them out onto the streets…50% of them while they were in elementary school, 39% of them while in middle school and 10% while in high school. Their lot in life: 1. part-time at gas stations, 2. fast-food restaurants, 3. coffee shops 4. delivering newspapers and leaflets 5. prostitution A Korean lawmaker says – “In the United States these runaway teenagers are considered in need of protection. The government ought to develop a family therapy program and help them return home, or take care of them if necessary.” Can you help us out here in the United States, too? What do you think about teenagers who turn to sex for survival?
