Briefly, he’s a British celebrity fashion consultant born in Leicester to a Chinese father and an English mother. He had some hard times growing up being of mixed parentage (I can tell you it’s not fun growing up as a mixed-race child in England, but I think it’s better now), overweight (think somewhere around 20-21 stones?)and oddly tall. I didn’t help for others to know that he was gay as well.

Flash forward a couple of years, Gok Wan lost all the weight, studied at London’s prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama and is here today-alive, well and proudly gay. He gets to tell celebrities how to dress and empowers women to love their bodies through his controversial series, ‘How to Look Good Naked’ and now ‘Ms Naked Beauty Contest’.

Love him or hate him (I vote love him), he’s made an impact into the fashion world and he’s here to stay.
