8 Chinese Laws to Improve Teenage Life and Prevent Internet Addiction
It is estimated that China has about 123 million Internet users. About 15.4 of them are youths. Of those, 2 million are considered Internet addicts...and the number is growing.
China’s top legislature, the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress is reviewing law amendments to encourage the development of technology to prevent or stop minors from becoming addicted to the Internet.![]()
Law # 1 – Create software that can terminate a game at a fixed time – and then what? Not allow them to log in elsewhere?
Law # 2 – Ban commercial dance halls, bars and Internet cafes from admitting minors
Law # 3 – Prohibit production of books, newspapers, audio-video products, computer games and cartoons with porn, violent, disturbing content or gambling info for minors.
Law # 4 – Enforce strict laws to prevent shops from selling tobacco and wine to minors
Law # 5 – Parents and guardians are not to force minors to get married.
Law # 6 – No abductions, trafficking, abuse or sexual offenses involving minors
Law # 7 – Teachers are not to insult of physically punish students
Law # 8 – Teachers can not give too much homework so as to interfere with adequate sleep and sports activities for students.
Wow…and those laws are going to do wonders to help kids straighten their lives out and stay off the PC, eh?
