Winners and Losers in China’s 3G Industry

China will make the jump to third generation mobile communications soon.

Investors, entrepreneurs and others will all be hoping to make a killing on this.

The winners -

1. Mobile equipment and system providers

The late comers -

1. terminal manufacturers - depends on the development of 3G operators3G.jpg

2. distributors - cannot control the market directly.

Gainers and Loser

1. Telecom operators - fixed line operators will benefit if they gain 3G licenses for mobile network

“International experiences also makes people doubt the future of the market. Most of the 3G networks in Europe could only realize one sixth of the ideal transmission speed which has made telecom operators around the world cautious about 3G.”

Just because 3G is coming to China, it doesn’t mean it will succeed. Still, there is money to be made by the equipment providers and the rest IF 3G delivers.
