“What’s your name?”

“Wang.”

“And you?”

“Wang.”

“What about him?”

“Wang.”

“And those guys?”wang.wang.wang.jpg

“Wang, Wang, Wang and Wang.”

7.4% of Chinese have the same last name – Wang….about 92.881 million.

Second place went to the Lis with 7.19% or 92.074 million.

Immediately after getting this news, the Lis headed for the bedroom.

In third place were the Zhangs (Zhang Ziyi?) with 6.83% or 87.502 million.

That means that more than 20% of Chinese are people who share one of three last names.

Kind of like Smith, Jones and Slobgub, no?

Those three names add up to over 272 million. The population of the US is only  300 million. Imagine everyone in the United States having one of only three last names.

The other names in the top ten are Liu, Chen, Yang, Huang, Zhao, Wu, and Chou.
