China Bans Advertisements for Female Underwear

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has their ax sharpened and they are hacking away…first reality shows featuring sex changes and plastic surgery, then talent contests during prime-time and now sexual sounds.

Sexually suggestive advertisements and scenes showing how women are influenced into a life of crime are detrimental to society.”

I am not sure I get the connection between the suggestive ads and influenced into a life of crime…but, I agree, both can be detrimental to society.

China has banned ’sexual sounds’ on television.

“Commercials containing sexually provocative sounds or tantalizingvictoria.secret.china.jpg language as well as vulgar advertisements for breast enhancement and female underwear are banned, effective immediately.”

China has banned ads for women’s drillies.

SARFT has cleaned up 1,466 advertisements worth $246 million in the past two months from China’s airwaves.

The 17th Party congress, a sensitive five-yearly meeting at which key government leaders are appointed and national policy set for the next few years is coming up.

There may be a connection….but one would have to stretch it pretty far to find it.

So, I guess Victoria Secret catalogs will be the way to go, eh?
