7 Tips to become a Successful Career Woman in Korea

Submitted by Bill Belew on Thursday, 25 September 2008No Comment

Korean women have the same challenges when it comes to being a successful career woman….maybe more so.

A local (Korean) economic think tank thought it through, considered salary gaps, sexual harassment issues in the office and came up with some ideas for the ladies of Korea.

Men, btw, make about 30% more than the women in Korea.

About two out of every five ladies say they have experienced some sort of sexual harassment at work.

The LG Economic Research Institute (LGERI) has seven tips:

1. Have a pioneering mindset and be optimistic. Some companies, many? hav never had a woman at the top before.

2. Show professionalism. Family comes first, but it doesn’t havecareer.woman.korea.jpg to be that way in the office.

3. Don’t be too modest. If you can do it, it ain’t bragging.

4. Befriend men. Uh…why not just make friends, smooze with the right people, build a network?

5. Find a mentor… Connections, connections….

6. Take off the superwoman cape. Men make sacrifices, too.

7. Don’t be afraid to quit...not trying to be a success but if the job is a dead end, move on.

What do you think it takes to be a successful career woman?

Is Korea any different?
