13-year old Gold Medalist - He Kexin

Date August 14, 2008

He Kexin apparently aged 3 years in 9 months. Late last year, Nov. 3rd, China’s Xinhua identified He Kexin (One of China’s 10 big stars) as being just 13-years old.

She went on to win a gold-medal. Problem - a gymnast must be 16 by the end of the Olympic year to be on the team.

Uh, oh!

A couple of other girls on the gold medal winning team are under suspicion, too.

Perhaps it’s in the ‘national interest’ to redefine how old somebody is in the Middle Kingdom. Maybe China passed a law that girls start counting age 3 years from before they are born.

When questioned one of China’s gymnastic officals responded - “We are a sports department. How would we have the ability to do that (change a girl’s age)? We already explained this very clearly. There’s no need to discuss this thing again.”

We are not asking whether China changed the age or not, but did they lie about how old she really is.

How old do you think this little girl is?

Come on, guys. Don’t pretend you need an answer from us. You know damned well that she is 13 or 14. You know China lied about the ages of several gymnasts in their team. The problem is with the IOC and gymnastics federation. They honestly don’t care about the ages when as long as they are close enough. Honestly, I don’t think a 13 or 14-year will have an physical advantage over a 16-year old for a Chinese.

Can anyone guess how old BOb Costas is? Don’t be so sure about yourself when guessing someone else’s age.

Ok so many people at the Olympics had commented on how she had several teeth missing. UM. I have three daughters ages 13-16 and they all have their permanent teeth. My youngest lost her last tooth at 11.

That girl is 13. Period. I know that Oriental (is that Politically Correct…Oriental?) people tend to look a lot younger than they are (to me, anyway…) due to their pretty, slanted eyes and taut, young looking skin, but THAT CHILD IS 13. Period. I mean, don’t get me wrong…she is an amazing gymnast and I think that she is definitely of Olympic caliber and therefore should be allowed to compete, but China definitely lied about her age, and should be held accountable for that. Do I think she should be stripped of her medals, though? Nah. Have you seen her perform? She’s a BEAST!
