Most Expensive Toy in Japan - $41,468

Submitted by Bill Belew on Monday, 4 August 2008No Comment

The most expensive toy in Japan that you don’t drive or fly or sail is a Gundam that goes for about $41,468, depending on the yen rate and the price of platinum at the time.

Japan’s Ginza Tanaka and the toymaker Bandai Co. created a miniature (thank goodness) robot that stands about 13cm (5″) tall and weighs 1,400 grams (2lbs 13 oz). He’s made of platinum…pure platinum.

It gives new meaning to worth your weight in gold, eh. Let’s see, it it were me, I’d be worth about $2.96 million. (For some reason that kind of depresses me to think that’s all I am worth.)

But, this little fellow is the reason some parents don’t want kids any more. It’s just too dang expensive to give them things to play with.

What’s your favorite toy?\
